Social-Media Netiquette

We’re glad you’re following our posts, giving us feedback, or participating in discussions in our communities.

We welcome lively and inspiring exchanges on our channels in which participants communicate their views freely. However, in line with our core values of innovation, agility and sustainability, it is important to us that discussions are open, appreciative, respectful, factual and constructive. Because only if we also think in new directions, allow other perspectives on issues and cultivate an open approach can new ideas and innovative solutions emerge from constructive discussions and challenges be overcome together. Under the motto “Fair goes first!” our behavior is based on integrity, respect and fair dealing. Not only in our cooperation, but also on our channels, we attach great importance to a trusting, cooperative and sustainable relationship – and we expect the same from all those involved. We see ourselves in the role of a moderator and would therefore like to ensure fair and professional interaction among users with our netiquette – even if opinions differ.

  • Comment in a factual, polite and respectful manner. We do not tolerate inappropriate, offensive, provocative or harassing posts or behavior.

  • We remove posts that assert facts that cannot be substantiated and that disparage the reputation of private or legal persons.

  • Do not post sensitive data or information that is personal to you or others and inappropriate for public comment. This includes, for example, private or business data or information that relates to your employment and must be kept confidential with respect to data protection and compliance guidelines.

  • For reasons of transparency, it should be clear whether you are commenting in your private name or on behalf of a company in your contributions.

  • Make sure you have the necessary publishing rights to the content and media you share.

  • Respect the personal rights of other people, such as the right to one’s own image.

  • We check linked content and reserve the right to delete the comment with the link in question if necessary.

  • Please refrain from comments with commercial or political advertising content. As moderators, we reserve the right to delete contributions that are factually and thematically inappropriate for our communities.

  • We remove posts that are automatically generated or repeatedly published on our channels.

  • Comments and behaviors that indicate a smear campaign will be stopped.

  • We do not tolerate any form of discrimination against single persons or groups, for example on the basis of gender, ethnic or social origin, religious beliefs or sexual identity, age or physical impairment.

  • Posts with criminal content will be removed. This includes comments and media whose content, for example, falls under insult, defamation, slander, threat, sexual harassment, depiction of violence, pornography, incitement of the people, etc., or incite to criminal acts. As a matter of principle, we reserve the right to file a complaint if a criminal offense has been committed, and we will support prosecution by providing detailed documentation of the offense within the scope of our possibilities.

It is at our discretion whether we inform the responsible user(s) of their misconduct and issue a warning, or whether we react immediately by deleting the posts or excluding the user(s). If the user recognizes the violation of the rules, revises their contribution or their behavior and guarantees to adhere to our netiquette in the future, we will consider allowing the user to participate in our communities again. Comments that violate the rules may also be deleted or reported at a later date. This also applies to blocking and reporting users who have behaved in a way that violates the rules. In principle, there is no right to the publication of comments in our channels. Therefore, it is up to us to sanction the posts and behaviors that disrupt the respectful interaction and peaceful discussion culture in our communities.

Please always keep in mind that your comments and behavior are public and attributable to you. You should therefore always check whether the content of your comments is suitable for this setting. The following rules apply to all social media platforms on which CANCOM is represented: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Xing and YouTube.
